Hydrolyzed Collagen: What It Does for Hydration
Collagen is a famous skincare word, but what does the hydrolyzed version actually do when it sits on your skin?

What "hydrolyzed" means
Collagen is a large structural protein. Its natural molecules are too big to be useful in a cosmetic, so they are broken into much smaller fragments. This process is called hydrolysis, and the result is a peptide-rich ingredient that blends easily into water-based formulas such as essences and masks.
What it does on the skin
Applied topically, hydrolyzed collagen works at the surface. It helps bind water to the outer layers of skin and leaves a soft, smooth film, which is why skin often looks plumper and feels more supple after a mask. It is a hydration and comfort ingredient. It does not rebuild collagen deep in the skin, and no mask should promise that.
Where it fits in your routine
Think of it as an indulgent step in your routine: cleanse, apply a hydrating serum on damp skin, then apply the mask as directed on the pack. By day, sunscreen remains the most important step for keeping skin looking healthy.
